Wallpaper - rough estimate

This is intended to produce a rough calculation of how many linear yards your project will require. You’ll also want to plan for repeat and waste. As stated in our FAQs, before ordering, we always suggest that clients get a quote from a professional accredited wallpaper installer with traditional wallpaper installation experience.

  • measure your walls – make sure to accurately measure in whole inches the height and width of the portion of the walls you’ll be covering

  • hint • in order to match everything up the actual square footage of a door or window rarely can be subtracted but you can subtract ceiling moldings and baseboard trim

  • figure out how many panels (widths) of wallpaper you will need based on the trimmed size of the paper to cover the width of the wall

  • figure out how many linear yards you need each panel to be (overall height divided by 36”)

  • hint • don’t forget to account for large repeats or half drop type matches or your panels will not join properly

  • subtotal = # of panels x # of linear yards needed for each panel

  • hint • total estimate = subtotal plus add at least 10% for insurance to get your rough estimate

  • don’t forget • we can only print whole yards (round up) and our minimum order is 5 yards
